A New Zealand doctor has billed the U.S. embassy over rising petrol costs, blaming Washington for the global energy crisis. Shane Dunphy, who runs a medical centre in Wellington, sent an invoice of NZ$2,790.95 (S$2,050), claiming the U.S. should reimburse his clinic for fuel vouchers given to staff.

He argued that the conflict involving the U.S. and Iran triggered surging fuel prices, which have climbed above NZ$3 per litre. Dunphy said the invoice was “a matter of principle,” adding, “If you break something, you should fix it.” He ended his letter demanding payment within seven days.
