A newborn baby girl was found alive in a maroon bag under a car porch in Taman Semarak, Sungai Petani. Discovered by a resident who heard crying, the baby, with her umbilical cord still attached, was healthy and uninjured.

She was taken to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for a check-up. Authorities are investigating under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth with intent to abandon.
