Off your TV now if you don’t like to see Anwar represent ‘us’ on global stage: Nurul Izzah
MELAKA, Aug 16, 2026 – Nurul Izzah Anwar, in her final speech as PKR deputy president, told those who do not like to watch his father speaking on international stage to just off the TV. But she says even this does not mean they can deny his role.
“Anwar speaks on the world stage representing our voice. If you don’t like it, switch off the TV. But don’t deny his role,” she said at the PKR National Congress. She added that conflicts in the Middle East have ripple effects globally, making it impossible for Malaysia to ignore them.

Nurul Izzah also rebuked those who attack Anwar out of “jealousy,” suggesting they seek psychological help. “If you want to criticise mistakes, I do too. But if you slander out of envy, better see a psychologist,” she remarked.
In his own closing speech, Anwar rejected accusations of racism, stressing his long history of maintaining ties with non‑Malay communities, including during his leadership of ABIM. On welfare, he highlighted that Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) exceed the amounts given under BR1M during Najib Razak’s era.
Anwar said hardcore poverty has been reduced to 0.09% as of 2024, while middle‑income groups benefit from Budi95 fuel subsidies and electricity support. He emphasised that opposition‑led states such as Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah also receive aid under his administration.
