AI Marketing at Core of Vanta’s New Strategy

1 min read

Vanta, the $4 billion security‑compliance software startup, has promoted Sarah Scharf to Chief Marketing Officer.

Scharf, who joined in 2020 and previously served as VP of Marketing, is tasked with strengthening Vanta’s reputation as a “trust company” while reinventing its marketing approach in the age of AI.

Sarah Scharf to Lead Vanta’s Trust‑Driven Marketing

Her priorities include positioning Vanta as the go‑to partner for businesses seeking to build and maintain trust in a world where AI complicates security, and reshaping internal marketing processes with automation.

Vanta’s platform, founded in 2018, helps companies assess compliance and security, from SOC 2 audits to enterprise risk and AI governance. Its clients include Snowflake, GitHub, and the Golden State Warriors.

Scharf plans to continue Vanta’s playful marketing style — such as billboards reading “Compliance that doesn’t SOC 2 much” — while avoiding fear‑based messaging common in the industry.

She is investing in influencer marketing and podcasts, including “The Tabletop,” which features CISOs role‑playing crisis scenarios. Internally, Vanta uses AI tools like Midjourney to prototype campaigns and streamline repetitive tasks.

Industry experts caution that trust cannot be claimed through branding alone, but must be earned through consistent service quality and customer outcomes.
