PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has announced that his party has discussed cooperation between Singapore and the states under its administration and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. This discussion took place during a courtesy visit by Singapore’s Minister for National Development, Desmond Lee.
“We have discussed the focus on development in Malaysia and Singapore. Additionally, the meeting also explored the potential cooperation between Singapore and the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis, which are under PAS and PN administration,” he stated on Facebook.
Tuan Ibrahim, a former Minister of Environment and Water, took the opportunity to welcome Singapore’s investment in Malaysia’s potential industries, such as the rare earth industry. They also exchanged views on the implementation of progressive wages, a policy that Singapore has implemented.

Cheap Labour?
During Lee’s visit to Kuala Lumpur, he had productive meetings with opposition leaders and several federal government leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. These meetings covered various potential areas of cooperation, including smart cities, urban renewal, and urban planning. Lee also expressed gratitude to his Malaysian counterparts for accommodating their busy schedules to meet and serve them.
Interesting to see that Singapore is willing (perhaps) to work with PAS in the 4 poorest states in Malaysia. Investing in these states could mean employing cheap labour with investments in labour-intensive businesses. A question to ask. Right.
