A rare scene took place at the Muktamar PAS with a member of the PAS Perlis criticising the party and some leaders, as well as the Ulama PAS, for their lack of decorum. The ‘pembahas’ from Negeri Perlis, Mohd Saifizi Saidon of Perlis chapter, did not hold back in saying in the past, the party would sack Parit MP Hashim Gera just for getting dragged into a joget (1972), but now, the Ulama in the party is backing and defending a menteri besar who does Karaoke or someone who shakes hand with women. The man was in luck as no one came on the stand to ‘rampas’ the microphone from him, as we have seen in the past. “But today, we can see some leaders (indulged in) karaoke singing and his behaviour was defended by PAS ulama. “Even sadder, there have been incidents where a (male) PAS leader shook hands with women with impunity. This happened not once but many times,” he said.
