KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — PAS Youth will organise the Himpunan Mega Tolak URA on Oct 4 in Kuala Lumpur to oppose the Urban Renewal Act (URA). Its deputy chief, Ustaz Hafez Sabri, said the policy risks undermining land ownership, eroding economic freedom, and opening doors to foreign intervention.

He warned the draft bill’s reduction of building owners’ consent threshold from 100% to 80% threatens fairness and property rights. Opposition parties, NGOs, professional groups, and grassroots activists have joined the protest, including MCA, Kampung Sungai Baru Action Committee, Lawyers For Liberty, and more than 90 organisations.
