GEORGE TOWN – The Penang state government has pledged full cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigation into alleged abuse of power involving a senior state official. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow confirmed that MACC had opened an investigation paper following claims raised in the state assembly last year regarding land purchases using zakat funds.

He stressed that the state government would not interfere or conduct its own probe, leaving the matter entirely to MACC. Investigators have reportedly collected documents and recorded statements from individuals linked to the case. The officer continues duties pending investigation results.
