KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — Penang state executive councillor and Pantai Jerejak assemblyman Fahmi Zainol pleaded not guilty to a domestic abuse charge at the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court today. The 35-year-old PKR lawmaker was accused of voluntarily causing hurt to his wife, Nur Hidayah Abd Jabar, at their Bayan Lepas residence on February 22.

The charge, framed under Section 323 and Section 326A of the Penal Code, carries up to two years’ imprisonment or a RM2,000 fine. Magistrate Chia Huey Ting granted bail at RM2,000 with one surety. The case will be mentioned again on April 28.
