SINGAPORE, Nov 2, 2026 — Singapore Police will begin using a single dedicated phone number, 6000-0999, for all outgoing calls to members of the public from Nov 2, in a move aimed at strengthening the fight against scams involving impersonation of government officials.
The number is reserved exclusively for police use and cannot be used by individuals or organisations to make calls. Authorities said the initiative will make it easier for the public to identify genuine police calls and reduce confusion caused by scammers using different phone numbers to pose as officers.
The Singapore Police Force is the first government agency to introduce a dedicated outgoing number under a wider government effort to combat impersonation scams. Other public agencies are expected to adopt similar measures in the future.
Anti-Scam Hotline Number
To enhance verification, every call from 6000-0999 will be followed by a text message sent from the official “gov.sg” SMS channel. The message will typically include the officer’s name and contact details if a callback is required. SMS notifications will also be sent when calls go unanswered.
The number is for outgoing calls only. Anyone dialling 6000-0999 will hear a recorded message directing them to the police feedback portal.
Authorities said safeguards have been introduced to prevent spoofing or misuse of the number, including blocking overseas calls that attempt to mimic the dedicated line.
Between January and September 2026, Singapore recorded at least 3,230 government official impersonation scam cases involving losses of S$142.5 million, with police impersonation remaining the most common tactic used by fraudsters.
