Police have advised the cancellation of planned gatherings in Bertam, Kepala Batas, over a Malaysian flag controversy to prevent clashes between Umno Youth and DAP supporters. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the move was to protect public safety and order. The dispute arose after a Jalur Gemilang was hung upside down outside a hardware shop, prompting 38 police reports nationwide. The shop owner claimed it was an unintentional mistake. Umno Youth initially planned a “class” for the owner, while DAP offered to gift a giant flag and distribute 831 more, escalating political tensions over the incident.
