A 23-year-old scrap metal shop assistant has been arrested by police in Malaysia for allegedly taking his 17-year-old girlfriend without her mother’s consent.

The incident reportedly occurred in July 2022 when the girl was taken from a housing area in Desa Mentari. She was found on Tuesday in Kampung Olak Lempit, in Banting, after an investigation by police.

The suspect, who had no prior criminal record, was arrested in Banting, where he and the girl had been living in a shed at the scrapyard where he worked. He has been remanded for two days while further investigations continue.
