The police have rejected an application for a solidarity rally in support of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Palace of Justice, citing an incomplete submission. Putrajaya police chief, ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed, confirmed the denial, with 456 officers on standby to ensure security. The rally, planned by Umno, aimed to coincide with Najib’s January 6 appeal hearing regarding a proposed “royal addendum” for house arrest. Following advice from the police and remarks from Istana Negara urging respect for the law, Umno canceled the rally. However, PAS members still plan to gather despite official disapproval.
