Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta criticized the current system as “embarrassing” and a “disgrace,” prompting the League Managers Association (LMA) to discuss a new approach with the referees’ body Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL).
LMA’s CEO, Richard Bevan, revealed talks about having referees work consistently with the same VAR and called for a review of the “clear and obvious” error definition in VAR decision-making. PGMOL has been adjusting VAR protocols this season but faces challenges in recruiting trained video assistants.
