KUALA LUMPUR, May 13, 2025 — Former Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr. P. Ramasamy will face criminal breach of trust charges tomorrow, confirmed MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. The charges stem from the 2017 Golden Chariot procurement and welfare aid distribution under the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB), which Ramasamy chaired. Last year, he expressed frustration after being barred from leaving Malaysia in December, missing a peace award ceremony in Aceh for his role in mediating peace with the Free Aceh Movement. The travel ban, linked to the PHEB probe, halted his plans.
