Two retired teachers in Pahang lost over RM2 million to online fraud syndicates. A 71-year-old man invested RM10,000 in a Facebook stock scam, eventually losing RM1.8 million through 21 transactions.
Retired Teachers Lose Over RM2 Million to Online Fraud
He realized it was a scam when asked to deposit an additional RM2.8 million. Separately, a 60-year-old woman lost over RM333,000 to a phone scam by someone posing as an Etiqa Insurance agent. She was tricked into transferring funds and taking out a bank loan.
Both cases are under investigation, and the victims have lodged reports at the Temerloh and Raub police headquarters.
