Right-wing UM student group Neo-Siswa criticised for opposing forum

1 min read

Human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim criticized a right-wing Universiti Malaya (UM) student group, Neo-Siswa UM, for opposing a forum titled “Is Malaysia a Secular or Islamic Country?” where she was a panelist. The group objected to the event, organized by UM Association of New Youth (UMANY), alleging Siti’s views favor LGBT rights. The controversy highlights tensions over open discourse in Malaysia’s oldest public university.
