On January 25, Malaysia made history with its largest drug bust, seizing RM1.06 billion worth of methamphetamine at Port Klang’s West Port. Police raided a warehouse, uncovering 33,200 kg of the drug—enough for 166 million addicts—hidden in 166 drums labeled as ‘Paraffin Wax’ inside two containers bound for Sydney, Australia. The shipment, originating from Iran, was flagged as cosmetic materials. The operation, a joint effort with the Australian Federal Police, thwarted an international trafficking plot. Bukit Aman’s Acting Narcotics Director, DCP Mat Zani, said investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act continue to dismantle the syndicate behind the massive haul.
