Local freight forwarding companies are up in arms despite a one-year delay in rules that will get them to have 51 per cent Bumiputera equity to obtain a Customs licence by December this year.
Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz, the finance minister, announced in Parliament there will be a delay in forcing the rule on the hauling companies, pushing the due date to end-2022.
While social media is exploding with comments against the rule, company owners are listing the reasons why they are against it, including the time frame to find Bumi investors and that foreign companies are not subjected to such rules.
