Saifuddin: PH to Run Prudent Campaign in Melaka Polls

Pakatan Harapan (PH) will run a prudent campaign in the Melaka state election by explaining the unity government’s initiatives under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.

Saifuddin, who is also PKR vice-president, said the government’s successes and welfare initiatives must be conveyed to voters in the best possible way so they would be confident in choosing PH candidates, according to Bernama.

He was speaking on Monday night (Oct 26) at the launch of the operations room for the Paya Rumput state seat in Krubong, Melaka.

Also present were Melaka PKR State Leadership Council acting chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim and PH’s candidate for Paya Rumput, Datuk Azman Abidin.

Welfare aid at centre of Melaka state election pitch

Saifuddin pointed to the RM200 schooling assistance given to 5.2 million students and pupils nationwide as one of the government’s welfare initiatives.

He said a family with three children would receive RM600 in cash, covering items such as school uniforms, school shoes, sports attire, school bags and school supplies.

He added that the Prime Minister helps think about and solve school-related problems faced by families.

On security, Saifuddin said Malaysia is currently the 12th safest country in the world to visit, which he said showed the government’s capability in controlling national security.

No insults, says PKR vice-president

Saifuddin said PH did not want to win the election campaign by hurling insults and cursing, adding that this was not PKR’s way.

“Our politics is one that invites peace, love, and unity,” he said.

Malay Mail, which carried the same remarks on Tuesday (Oct 27), reported that PH will highlight the Anwar government’s welfare aid and security record in its Melaka campaign.
