Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was fully acquitted by the Shah Alam High Court of sedition charges related to remarks about the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The court’s decision came after the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) accepted Sanusi’s representations and chose not to pursue the case. Although the prosecution initially sought a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA), the judge ruled for a full acquittal, agreeing with the defence that it was the fair outcome. Sanusi had faced charges under the Sedition Act 1948 for comments made during a political speech in Gombak on July 11, 2023. He was previously acquitted of a separate sedition charge concerning the Sultan of Selangor after issuing an apology.
