GEORGE TOWN – The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) in Penang seized 21 kilograms of frog satay worth RM1,500 at Penang International Airport today. The satay, believed to have been brought from Myanmar, was confiscated with the help of Royal Malaysian Customs (JKDM) and scanner assistance. Maqis officers discovered the frog satay in passengers’ luggage.

This seizure is the largest animal product haul this month. Importing animal products without a valid permit violates Section 11(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 [Act 728], punishable under Section 11(3) of the same act.
