A 63-year-old man, Samsuri Kamaruddin, was fined RM2,500 by the Parit Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to outraging a woman’s modesty at a grocery store. Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai imposed the fine, in default six months’ jail, and reminded the accused of maintaining personal boundaries, especially as a senior citizen.
Senior Citizen Fined
Samsuri touched and pinched the cheek of a 23-year-old woman on September 5, despite her reprimanding him. The incident left the victim traumatised and fearful of returning to work. He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries severe penalties.
