Sheffield Wednesday’s supporters faced the court admitting a public order offense. District Judge Marcus Waite deemed Houghton’s actions “utterly appalling” and “disgraceful,” imposing a football ban, surcharge, and costs.
Waite acknowledged Houghton’s remorse but criticized his “callous disrespect” for Lowery, leading to job loss and personal fallout. Lowery’s mother conveyed the emotional turmoil caused by Houghton’s actions in court.
