A Singaporean man, identified as O, has lost his appeal against a 13-year jail term and 12 cane strokes for raping his co-conspirator’s wife. The Court of Appeal upheld his conviction and sentence, originally issued in January 2024, deeming them appropriate. O, the only member of a seven-man ring convicted of assaulting drugged wives to stand trial, claimed he visited the victim’s home out of curiosity, a defense the court rejected. His lawyer’s arguments, including a framing theory and claims of mere fantasy in explicit texts, were dismissed. O’s request to defer his sentence for family arrangements was noted post-appeal.
