Singapore has announced its first National Simulated Scams Exercise, open to public volunteers, to help people experience and understand scam tactics in a safe setting. Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo made the announcement at the Exercise SG Ready and Total Defence Commemoration Event on Feb 1.
Simulated Scams Exercise
Registration opens immediately, with the exercise running from March 1 to August 31. Participants will receive simulated robocalls mimicking scammers impersonating officials. “We hope this exercise helps you build new muscles, to guard against scammers and protect yourself better,” Teo said. The Cyber Security Agency will also extend it to public service employees. The launch coincided with the Exercise SG Ready public warning system test and Total Defence message by Minister K Shanmugam.
