Spain has closed its airspace to US planes involved in attacks on Iran, Defence Minister Margarita Robles confirmed. She stressed that Madrid would not authorise the use of Morón and Rota bases for war-related operations, a stance made clear to Washington from the outset.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said the move aimed to avoid escalating the conflict. A White House official insisted US forces were meeting all objectives under Operation Epic Fury without Spain’s support. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has repeatedly denounced the attacks as “reckless” and “illegal,” rejecting all flight plans tied to the Iran operation.
