Teen Faces Jail and RM15k Fine After Performing ‘Wheelie’ During Illegal Race in Kuantan

An 18-year-old in Kuantan, Pahang, was arrested on July 13 for performing a dangerous “wheelie” during an illegal street race. Acting District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the teen is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine up to RM15,000.

The arrest was part of Op Samseng Jalanan, which resulted in 194 traffic summonses and 24 motorcycle seizures. Police reminded the public—especially youths—not to use public roads for stunts or races and vowed to intensify enforcement in hotspot areas.
