KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked the Telegram channel “Edisi Siasat 2.0” after it violated local laws, displaying a warning that its content was removed. This follows the blocking of “Edisi Siasat” and “Edisi Khas” on June 18, 2025, for spreading content undermining public trust and order under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Despite the initial blocks, “Edisi Siasat 2.0” emerged the same day, amassing over 100,000 followers before its swift takedown. MCMC’s civil action against Telegram, an ASP(C) licence holder, marks a first against a social media platform.
