The surprising PN in Malacca

1 min read

Perikatan Nasional surprised many with the Bersatu winning 2 seats in the Malacca elections. While PN may have expected more wins, the two seats is a breakthrough for the party of ex-PM Muhyiddin Yassin.

Is it indicative of the country’s changing political landscape? PN came very close to capturing the BN strongholds of Serkam and Tanjung Bidara. Umno narrowly won these seats with a 79-vote majority and 364-vote majority.

PN also pulled off a surprise win in Sungai Udang where 42 percent of the registered voters are police personnel, army personnel and their spouses. BN and PH beware?
