Amanah has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to remain cautious of U.S. political manoeuvres, particularly those of President Donald Trump, ahead of his expected visit to the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur this October. Party communications director Khalid Abdul Samad stressed the importance of maintaining Malaysia’s non-aligned stance and warned against allowing ASEAN to be swayed by U.S. interests, especially those linked to pro-Israel lobbying. While welcoming Trump’s engagement, Khalid said it must not come at the expense of regional priorities. “His proposals will undoubtedly serve American and Israeli interests,” he said, urging stronger ties with BRICS nations.
