Towing service providers want diesel subsidy now

A group representing over 1,000 vehicle towing operators, 1 Malaysia Tow Truck and Car Carrier Association (1MTTCC), is urging the government to include their service in the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS). The rise in diesel prices from RM2.15 to RM3.35 per litre has doubled operating costs, severely impacting their business.

1MTTCC president Yusif Yahya stated that adherence to the 2018 guidelines capping charges at RM150 for 1-10km services is now unfeasible. The diesel price hike has decreased their business by nearly 50%, with customers hesitant to use the now costlier services. The government is considering expanding diesel subsidy eligibility.
