President Donald Trump closed a 32-day campaign tour with rallies in Iowa and Kansas on Sunday. In Salina, Kansas, he told the crowd he could have stayed home watching television but preferred to be there, and said he came to make sure Republican Sen. Roger Marshall is re-elected.

The stops came as a New York Times/Siena poll of 5,708 likely voters in key battleground states, taken 23 October to 1 November, showed Democrats leading all seven Senate races it covered.
In Kansas, Democrat Adam Hamilton led Marshall 49% to 44%, after a 45-45 tie in September. Kansas hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1932. In Iowa, Democrat Josh Turek led Rep. Ashley Hinson 48-47. Democrats also led in Texas and Michigan.

Trump praised his record, called this a “golden era,” and attacked Democrats. He said Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would invest $4.3 billion in Kansas mortgages next year.
He also warned of Democratic policies on gender-affirming care and the southwest border. Newsweek noted that the care claim has repeatedly been disproven.
Trump said prices are falling after inheriting high ones, which Newsweek said data largely doesn’t support. In the poll, voters favoured Democratic Senate candidates on cost of living, by 9 points in Kansas and 4 in Iowa.
