Two Malaysian police officers, ranked lance corporal, have been charged with gang robbery after allegedly robbing a 42-year-old Indonesian tourist at a hotel in the state of Melaka.
The accused, T. S. Praveen and Muhammad Safri Idris, both 31, pleaded not guilty and could face up to 20 years in jail and whipping if convicted. They also face a charge under the Passports Act 1966 for having possession of a passport without authority.
Police Officers in Trouble
The victim had reported the incident on April 4, and the police have granted the accused bail of RM9,000 each until their next mention date on May 23.
