A UiTM student representative page on X is now under fire from netizens after stating that they are firm with having a Bumiputera only policy in their campus. This is from the 2023/2024 sessions page, which claims to be an official page of the university. They even issued a statement regarding the whole issue.

Users are upset at the press release and state that it is ironic that foreign students are able to enroll in the university for certain reasons. However, it is still in the country’s law that these universities are meant for Bumiputeras only. Part of the statement reads that the university is a MARA project meant for those who are under the Bumiputera umbrella.
The defense used by X users is that the wealthy Bumiputeras are also able to enter these universities. However, those who defend the policy state that even if they are wealthy, they still meet the requirements of joining them. This has been a long standing debate among Malaysians, and it is unclear if a resolution will ever be met.
