A veteran UMNO Secretary Datuk Mustapha Yaakub, after Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that some cases during PH 1.0 was due to revenge, has urged the Prime Minister to uphold justice (SIC) for Najib Razak. He now claims Najib was a victim of selective prosecution under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s administration after Barisan Nasional’s fall in 2018. Mahathir meticulously planned it and used all available instruments to ensure Najib was found guilty, he said.

The man also alleged Najib’s conviction was orchestrated, with other UMNO figures like Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor also targeted. Mustapha called on Anwar to address these injustices, noting Anwar’s own claims of unfair treatment in the past. Anwar has previously denied involvement in Rosmah’s case and criticized rushed prosecutions post-GE14. Now Umno man wants him to ‘literally’ interfere in Najib’s case.
