KUANTAN, Oct 5 — A viral speech by PAS Pahang leader Dr Riduan Mohamad Nor has stirred debate after he urged voters to support the party to attain a “blessed life.”
Speaking at a recent ceramah, Riduan declared that Pahang residents had “no choice” but to vote for PAS if they wished to experience divine blessings. “Together let us vote PAS and win PAS, especially our machinery. Every drop of sweat, every contribution will be rewarded,” he said.

His remarks triggered widespread criticism online, with many accusing PAS of exploiting religious sentiment in politics. Social media users mocked the narrative, noting that in Kelantan PAS-linked rhetoric promised “heaven,” while in Pahang it now promised “blessings.” One user quipped: “If in Kelantan voting PAS means heaven, in Pahang it means a blessed life.”
Others sarcastically suggested they would endure poor infrastructure and unfulfilled promises as long as their lives remained “blessed” by voting PAS.
The controversy has reignited debate over the party’s reliance on religious framing, particularly linking political support to spiritual rewards. Critics argue that governance, policy, and administrative competence should outweigh appeals to faith-based concepts of sin, reward, or blessing.
