The Pelangai by-election saw a 53% voter turnout as of 1 pm, surpassing the percentage of voters for the entire day in the recent Pulai by-election in Johor. The Election Commission (EC) chairman, Abdul Ghani Salleh, described the voting trend as “encouraging” and anticipated a turnout of at least 70%.

Nine polling stations with 30 channels opened at 8 am and are set to close at 6 pm, with results expected by 9 pm.
