The Ministry of Communications, through MCMC, is prepared to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to set minimum internet speed standards in schools nationwide, including rural areas, to ensure effective teaching and learning.

Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching said the standards, aligned with the MSQoS, include average download speeds of at least 7.7 Mbps from April 2024, rising to 10 Mbps in January 2025, and latency below 100 ms. She added that WiFi upgrades in 17 public universities were completed this year, while JENDELA has achieved 98.82% coverage. Phase 2 will expand connectivity further, especially in underserved regions.
