Starbucks Malaysia Revenue Decline Not Surprising Netizens

The recent revenue decline of Starbucks posted by Berjaya Group is of no surprise to netizens. Apparently, the boycott movement is still on despite the brand making multiple statements stating they’ve nothing to do with Israel.   

Berjaya Food Bhd, operator of Starbucks Malaysia, posted a record FY2025 net loss of RM291.99 million, hit by boycotts, reduced outlets, and asset impairments. Revenue plunged to RM476.77 million from RM750.70 million, reflecting weakened consumer sentiment and sustained market impact.

Netizens state the brand has to make a form of re-brand in order to stay competitive with competitors. An X user claims that a lack of innovation could also be the cause of the brand’s alleged downfall. 

It seems it is a common thought among social media users that the competition in Malaysia’s coffee shop scene is intense. Previously, the American coffee company reigned as king. One of the biggest problems now is that competing brands are offering coffee at lower prices.
