The foreign media are having some extraordinary moments with Malaysia and the fashion-leaning Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and now they are asking whether he will survive the floods that are forecasted for parts of Malaysia.
Floods have become an annual occurrence in Malaysia, and the government is launching a US$66 million mitigation project in Kuala Lumpur with Sabri hoping this will boost his image as a PM who cares and who prepares for disasters.
But any errors in handling the forecasted floods could become a repeat of the backlash he faced in December after the floods that killed dozens and displaced more than 61,000 people. Hence, he says there are more than 6,000 temporary shelters that will be set up across the country to host more than 1 million people.
