An American took to Twitter with the fact that their boss asked them if they’d speak Spanish. They replied with ‘yes’ and said it’s not for free. This action is understandable as even overseas, large companies tend to pay their employees peanuts.
The original poster went on saying that they have student debts to pay and would not be willing to work extra for free. Furthermore, it is stated that a translator in the US would make about $66,000/year which is roughly RM295,000/year.
Other Twitter users complained that Americans can barely speak English, let alone another language. They further stated that people from Southeast Asia tend to speak multiple languages, even Europeans speak more than 1 language.
