Zaid Ibrahim asks PAS not to fear Umno will go to PH

PAS outspoken member Zaid Ibrahim has urged PAS not to fear that Umno will go to PH if PAS is too strong in their demands for seats in elections. Instead, he says, there is a charade between Umno leader Ahmad Zahid and PKR leader and PM Anwar Ibrahim.

“There is no need to fear that UMNO might go to PH. UMNO is already with PH. The charade of a fight between Zahid and Anwar is just that: a charade,” he wrote on Social Media.

His statement came after PAS information chief says the party can’t afford to take a rigid stance in seat negotiations with UMNO, for fear that UMNO might join PH.

Zaid says the party leaders know better than him on how to negotiate for seats, “but I think I also know UMNO quite well.” He insists that Zahid is in a win-win situation. If he gets more seats than PAS in the next GE, and he secures the support from the Borneo block, he will become PM.

But if PAS secures more seats than Umno, Zaid says Zahid will turn to PH again and offer support to PMX. That way, he may get a better deal in the end.

“The game is like this: if UMNO wins a larger number of seats than PAS and Zahid gets the Borneo bloc, then Zahid becomes PM If PAS and friends win more seats than Zahid but can’t form the government, then Zahid will offer UMNO seats to the Teacher in exchange for positions. Like now

“It’s called win-win. Either outcome, Zahid wins.”
