MADANI Government Upgrades 11,397 Public Toilets Nationwide

The MADANI government, through the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), has upgraded 11,397 public toilets under local authorities over the past two years, said Minister Nga Kor Ming. The RM800 million initiative aims to foster civic awareness and cleanliness in preparation for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 and Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

KPKT is also upgrading 16 BMW (clean, attractive, and fragrant) public toilets to smart BMW-i toilets. An additional RM4 million has been allocated for pilot projects in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The Toilet of the Year Award (TOTYA) 2024 saw a significant increase in entries, indicating positive reception.
