Opposition: Muhyiddin Has No Majority!

1 min read

Pakatan Harapan and Pejuang have the same views on PM TS Muhyiddin Yassin’s position after UMNO withdrawal of support.

They believe the embattled PM should simply resign. When the party with 38 MPs say it is retracting support and urges the PM to quit, it shows Muhyiddin has no majority.

They also dispute Attorney-General Idrus Harun’s opinion that the Bersatu President can continue on as PM after losing Umno’s support.

While Pejuang did not say Muhyiddin has lost the majority in Parliament, it also criticised the AG for not ‘applying’. the law consistently.

Pejuang leader Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says sometimes the law cannot differentiate “the left leg from the right leg. Sometimes it’s the left leg, sometimes it’s the right leg.”

The flip-flop is obvious he says.

For both opposition parties, Muhyiddin has likely lost support in Parliament after Umno’s withdrawal of support.

“Therefore, when the leader of the largest party announces he is withdrawing support now, the prime minister loses the support of that party and the majority support of MPs.

“The attorney-general is acting as a Perikatan Nasional politician instead of defending the sanctity of the law,” says the PH a statement.

The statement was jointly signed by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim who is also the opposition leader, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday announced that his party was withdrawing support for Muhyiddin.
