England coach Gareth Southgate has thanked Her Majesty The Queen of England for her good luck letter.
The Queen sent the team a letter ahead of the Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley on Sunday.
This is England’s first major final in 55 years.
“Now we want to go and bring the trophy home for everybody,” says Southgate.
Euro Sports says England has flourished as an international force since Southgate took the helm in late 2016.
England went to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and third place at the Nations League. It is now in the final after a successful Euro 2020 campaign.
LETTER FROM THE QUEEN
In her letter, the Queen narrates how she was fortunate to present the World Cup to Bobby Moore in 1966.
“55 years ago I was fortunate to present the World Cup to Bobby Moore and saw what it meant to the players, management and support staff to reach and win the final of a major international football tournament.
“I want to send my congratulations and that of my family to you all on reaching the final of the European Championships, and send my good wishes for tomorrow with the hope that history will record not only your success but also the spirit, commitment and pride with which you have conducted yourselves.”
