Banks must be lenient in dealing with the pandemic financial crisis

1 min read

While it was deemed ‘fake news’ that PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the moratorium on bank loans etc will be extended for two years — Bank Negara said it’s fake news — or whether it is a U-turn after pressure from some quarters, banks are however expected to be lenient.

The banking institutions are urged, according to this news piece in The Star which the paper did not remove like the other piece of news saying the loan moratorium will continue for another two years, to allow those hit by the pandemic to ‘renegotiate’ their loan structure.

The offer is made to those within the B50 group while PM Sabri mentioned the various systems and solutions put in place for banks to deal with the financial crisis that has arisen due to the pandemic. Phew!
