Sleepless Najib Razak? According to the ex-PM, his team of lawyers, who quit last week and whom he fired entirely, filed an application late last night and again this morning against the Chief Justice based on “certain information” they received two or three days ago.
Najib Razak is now attempting to recuse Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat from hearing his SRC International appeal. Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, Najib’s lead counsel, made the application shortly after the case began at 9.40 a.m.
Last week, in a series of attacks against the Chief Justice as reported by the media, there were accusations that the latter’s husband had greeted Najib’s (read here downfall in the 2018 elections ) and for some, this means ‘political’ interference in his trial. The Chief Justice says the bench will decide on her continuing in the case.
