Apple, one of the biggest tech companies in the world, known for the iPhones, iPads and Macbooks has been accused by an Australian Youtuber for not being ‘environment friendly’ enough. This is due to Apple bricking iPhones and iPads that are still usable.
The initial reason to brick the devices came from a good place as for stolen iPhones, the owners can remotely disable the phones in order for their personal documents to stay safe. However, in recent years, Apple has taken this a notch further, even if the phone is not reported stolen it is risked to be disabled as well.
This can occur if an iPhone owner decides to sell their used iPhone and restore the phone to its factory settings without logging out of iCloud first. If that happens, the password of the previous owner’s account is needed in order for it to work.
