The Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek announced that her ministry is not giving priority to the controversial UEC – Unified Examination Certificate – and this drew mixed responses on social media.

In her speech yesterday, the Minister said the priority at the Ministry is the economic challenges and cost of living faced by the people that should be the focus. She said any other issues including the recognition of the UEC would be looked into by the ministry on a “time to time” basis. “Any matters related to our manifesto would also be reviewed since we are part of a unity government,” she said here today.

A few netizens questioned the Minister’s decision to focus on the cost of living but most of the debate online was about the education system and the UEC itself.

UEC x sepatutnya diiktiraf kerana peperiksaan yg diambil oleh mereka yg bersekolah di Independent Chinese School ini tdk mengikut silibus kebangsaan sptmana SJKC atau SJKT. Kita x mahu mereka yg berkiblatkan Taiwan/China berasimilasi dgn sistem pendidikan negara
